The countryside of New England is amongst the prettiest and most accessible in the USA - perfect fly-drive country. A short drive from Boston and New York, the states of Vermont and New Hampshire along with Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut combine a relaxed feel with beautiful scenery, accessible history, quaint coastal towns and rugged mountain ranges. The region comes alive in the autumn but is well worth exploring at any time of year.

Vermont is truly rural, especially when compared to the major cities of the East Coast - it’s 80% forests, and even its largest city Burlington is less than 50,000 residents, It still packs a punch, however, with the Green Mountains, beautiful Lake Champlain and the ski resorts of Stowe and around setting the scene. It’s also a foodies paradise!

New Hampshire’s heart is the granite peaks of the White Mountains, and the state as a whole is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts. Distances throughout New England are perfectly manageable so in just a few days you can take in a real variety of experiences.
