Los Angeles, San Diego, Palm Springs & Las Vegas Fly-Drive holiday

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1 - UK to Los Angeles

Fly from London to Los Angeles, arriving later the same day - departures from other UK airports are also available, of course. On arrival make your way to your chosen hotel, for a three night stay - our holidays are very flexible so your durations can be tailored to suit your exact requirements!

Days 2-3 - Los Angeles

Spend a few days discovering vibrant Los Angeles. LA is a great place for families, with several theme parks close by - Universal Studios is located close to Hollywood while Disneyland is further out at Anaheim.

Day 4 - Los Angeles to San Diego

Collect your rental car from the car hire depot at the airport, and head south along the Pacific Highway to San Diego (approx 125 miles / 2 hours, plus stops). Beach towns such as Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach and Carlsbad are great places to break the journey. On arrival in to San Diego check in to your hotel for a two night stay.

Day 5 - San Diego

Spend the day exploring San Diego - we’d recommend heading to the world-class zoo, or the beaches at Mission Beach and Pacific Beach are pretty stunning. Alternatively, head to the Gaslamp District for some Mexican food and a late night party!

Day 6 - San Diego to Palm Springs

Head inland to Palm Springs (approx 130 miles / 2 hours, plus stops), perhaps driving via the Anza Borrego Desert State Park, adding around 45 miles / 1 hours 20 mins, plus stops, to your journey - this is the largest state park outside of Alaska, filled with historical relics, plants and wildlife, canyons & mountains. On arrival in to Palm Springs check in to your hotel for a two night stay.

Day 7 - Palm Springs

Spend the day exploring Palm Springs or simply relaxing at your resort - Palm Springs has a laid back atmosphere so is a great place to chill out.

Day 8 - Palm Springs to Las Vegas

Today we’d suggest an early start, and taking a route to Las Vegas that a sat-nav may not suggest, taking in a little of the renowned Route 66 (approx 345 miles / 6 hours, plus stops). From Palm Springs head around Joshua Tree National Park then across the desert to Amboy. Join Route 66 here and follow it via Goffs, Needles and Oatman to Kingman in Arizona. Here, head North on I93 to the spectacular Hoover Dam, and in to Las Vegas - this is definitely the long way round, but a taster of Route 66 is well worth it! On arrival in to Las Vegas drop your car off at the airport depot and make your way to your chosen hotel, for a three night stay - durations in all locations are flexible, so you can stay for as long as you wish!

Days 9-10- Las Vegas

You now have the next few days to explore exciting Las Vegas. The 4 mile section of Las Vegas Boulevard from (roughly) Circus Circus in the north to Mandalay Bay in the south is known as ‘the strip’, and this is the heart of the city, where all the big-name hotels and casinos are found. The original city, focused on Fremont Street, has a retro feel but quite a buzz, and you’ll find lower table limits and drinks prices here.

Day 11- Return

Make your way back to Las Vegas airport for your return flight to the UK, arriving the next day.

Combine the California Coast with the deserts to Nevada with this USA fly-drive holiday, Start in Los Angeles before collecting your car and driving to San Diego. Continue on to Palm Springs, before finishing in Las Vegas.
