Kuala Lumpur, Cameron Highlands & Penang

The Cameron Highlands is an area of beautiful countryside to the north of Kuala Lumpur, where tea plantations and strawberry farms dot the hills. Spend a few nights here on the way from Kuala Lumpur to Penang on this itinerary.

SUGGESTED ITINERARY

Day 1 - UK to Kuala Lumpur
Fly from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur, arriving the following day. Departures from other UK airports are also available, please ask for details.

Day 2 - Kuala Lumpur
On arrival in to Kuala Lumpur you'll be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, for a three night stay. If you’d like a different duration here just let us know - we’re very flexible!

Days 3-4 - Kuala Lumpur

You now have the next couple of days to get to know Kuala Lumpur. We’d definitely factor in a visit to Petaling Street Market in to your itinerary one evening - the area buzzes with food stalls and souvenirs, but it’s the less-than-authentic designer goods that most people come here for.Our city stopovers are completely flexible, so if you’d like a day or two more or less just let us know!

Day 5 - Kuala Lumpur to the Cameron Highlands

Leave your hotel for the journey up north to the hill resort of Cameron Highlands. Enroute stop at the limestone hills of Batu Caves that comprises of three caverns and several smaller caves. It is the shrine of Lord Murugah, a Hindu deity - a flight of 272 steps lead up to the temple cave. Another cave, called museum cave, is filled with images of deities and murals depicting scenes from the Hindu scriptures. Proceed your journey. Arrive at Tapah town, foothills of Cameron Highlands. Wind your way up to 5000ft above sea level. Along the way, stop at Iskandar waterfalls and passing gurgling jungle streams. Arrive at the BOH Tea Factory for a Tea Appreciation Tour. Here, you will get a chance to proceed on a tea bush walk and factory tour, to get a first hand look at how Malaysian teas are made using traditional processing methods. Enjoy the picturesque view of flourishing tea plantation blanketing the undulating hills while having your afternoon tea. After tea, your driver /guide will take you on the tour of Cameron Highlands covering the Rose Garden and vegetable farms. Check in at your hotel and rest of the evening is free to just be revived by the cool fresh air. A light sweater is recommended on cool evenings.

Day 6 - Cameron Highlands

Free day at leisure or choose to go on an optional tour

Day 7 - Cameron Highlands to Penang

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at leisure in the hotel. Check out and descend the winding road to Simpang Pulai, continuing the journey up north to the state of Perak. Cross the Penang Bridge which measures 13.5 kilometre, before arriving into the Penang Island. Arrive your hotel in the late afternoon for a seven night stay. Finding the right hotel is as important as picking the right destination, so let our first hand knowledge of this destination help you do just that!

Days 8-13 - Penang

You now have a few days to chill out in Penang. For fabulous local food grab a cab in to George Town, which we reckon has some of the best food in South East Asia! You’ll get everything from Malay to Indian, and the hawker centres are superb - the Gurney Drive stalls are our favourite.

Day 14 - Penang to UK

Transfer to Penang airport for your return flight to the UK.
