Amboseli Serena Lodge, Amboseli

The lodge is framed against the glorious backdrop of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kilimanjaro and surrounded by miles of rolling grasslands, patrolled by vast herds of elephants. Secluded within a grove of acacia trees, the lodge looks out over the golden savannah plains, with uninterrupted views of the mountain.

Nestled in the foothills of Kilimanjaro, beside a gently flowing natural spring lies this magnificent lodge.

92 air-conditioned rooms with bath/shower facilities (2 adults and 1 child). Family rooms and suites are also available. Each room is housed in a single storey building opening directly on to the grounds, each reflecting a Masai manyatta theme with hand-painted wall frescos.

The central dining area, offering international cuisine, buffets and barbeques, is reached by a timbered bridge over a melt-water stream, while the lounge and bar feature a broad terrace and a blazing fire-pit where evening cocktails can be enjoyed. At the heart of the lodge, shaded by palm trees, is a free-form swimming pool; to either side of which stretch the rooms. Leisure facilities include game drives, sundowners, traditional feasts and tribal dancing. There is a gift shop where souvenirs can be purchased. Board Games and a library of Africana books are also available. Guided nature walks or bird-watching walks can be arranged, as can visits to local Masai villages with the chance to buy Masai handicrafts.
