Samburu, Shaba & Meru

Kenya’s north is a dry and rugged. 325km north of Nairobi lies dramatic Samburu National Reserve, in the home of the colourful Samburu people. Game includes species rarely seen elsewhere such as Grevy's zebras, reticulated giraffes and Somali ostriches. Nearby Shaba National Reserve has reserved its place in the history of conservation as the area where Joy Adamson experimented with the release of hand-reared leopards. Meru National Park is just seven miles from the equator and to the north east of Nairobi. Meru is famous for animals such as elephants, white rhinos, zebras, giraffes, kudus and predators such as lions, leopards and cheetahs.
