A delightful 5-night safari exploring the beautiful Rift Valley Lakes and the wildlife-filled Masai Mara. Spend two nights in the Lake Nakuru area taking in Lake Nakuru itself plus nearby Lake Bogoria, plus three nights on the Masai Mara, where the game viewing is second to none, including plenty of large cats.

ITINERARY

Day 1 - Depart

Fly from Heathrow to Nairobi, arriving next day. Regional departures from around the UK are also available.

Day 2 - Lake Nakuru

You’ll be met on arrival at Nairobi airport, and transferred to the nearby Safari Lounge, where you can freshen up and store any beach luggage that you don’t want to take on safari. Depart Nairobi and drive through the scenic Rift Valley and to Lake Nakuru National Park (220 km), where rhino sightings are common, and flamingoes congregating on the lake shore give the area a pink tinge. Arrive for lunch at the Sarova Lion Hill Lodge. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Lake Nakuru National Park. Overnight: Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (lunch and dinner included).

Day 3 - Lake Nakuru & Lake Bogoria

Enjoy an early morning game drive. After breakfast depart for Lake Bogoria, which is one of the Great Rift Valley’s saline alkaline lakes - at times the pink flamingos are found here in large numbers, plus there are hot springs and geysers in the area. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon return to Nakuru. Overnight: Sarova Woodlands Hotel & Spa, Nakuru (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 4 - Masai Mara

After breakfast depart for the world-famous Masai Mara Game Reserve (325 km). Arrive in time for lunch at the Sarova Mara Game Camp, which is set on an elevation surrounded by two streams with beautifully maintained grounds. This camp offers luxurious tented accommodation in an area world renowned for its annual wildebeest migration, whilst also being home to the big five. After lunch a game drive will introduce you to this incredible game reserve. Overnight: Sarova Mara Game Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 5 - Masai Mara

A further day in the magnificent Masai Mara. Enjoy a game drive followed by breakfast at the camp - alternatively, there’s an opportunity for a hot air balloon ride over the Masai Mara (optional extra) in the early morning, followed by breakfast (complete with sparkling wine) in the bush - it’s an amazing experience, and one we’d highly recommend. The rest of the morning is at leisure before lunch. In the afternoon a second game drive will show you more of the Masai Mara’s wildlife. Overnight: Sarova Mara Game Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 6 - Masai Mara

Another exciting day in the magnificent Masai Mara. This is one of the most famous wildlife reserves in the world, and rightly so - the variety and quantity of wildlife found here is simply incredible, and most visitors are awestruck by the area. It’s one of our favourite places in the world! It’s an early start for a game drive followed by breakfast at the camp. The rest of the morning is at leisure before lunch and another game drive, showing you more of what the incredible Masai Mara has to offer. Overnight: Sarova Mara Game Camp (breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 7 - Depart

After breakfast drive to Nairobi (335 km), or for a supplement there's the option to fly by light aircraft from the Masai Mara to Nairobi (do bear in mind that this limits your luggage allowance for the whole safari. When you arrive in to Nairobi proceed with your onward travel arrangement (breakfast included).

This is a private itinerary just for your group, up to a maximum of 6 passengers per vehicle all guaranteed a window seat.

On occasion the itinerary may operate in a different order, or different lodges used according to availability and road conditions.

Travel times vary on road conditions and game sightings.

Pack a mixture of warm and light clothing in soft bags, plus sunglasses, camera and insect repellent.
