The lodge is situated deep in the farming area of the Karatu district and nestled right alongside the Ngorongoro Forest where elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, and plenty of other wildlife roam freely. Karatu is surrounded by the peace and tranquillity of the Tanzanian countryside, and provides a relaxing atmosphere and attentive service.

About a 30-minute drive from the gate of Lake Manyara National Park, approximately four kilometres off the main road to the entry of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Accommodation at the Karatu Simba Lodge
Six tented rondavels and 11 cottages are all tastefully furnished, have en suite bathrooms with shower and flush toilet, solar energy and hot water, mosquito nets and in room safe. Each room also has a private deck where you can sit and enjoy the wonderful scenery.
Facilities at the Karatu Simba Lodge
There is a large dining room where delicious tasty continental meals, made from the finest local ingredients, are served. Bread, rolls, cakes and pastries are baked fresh every day. You can relax in the lounge and bar area with your favourite tipple. Cool off in the heat of the day in the swimming pool. Relax around the campfire at night and recount the wildlife sightings of the day. There is free wi-fi in the common areas.
For a taste of local life, explore the nearby town of Karatu with its shops, markets and brick factories. Every Sunday there is a small market at the road junction. Further activities include: game drives in Lake Manyara National Park, a visit to nearby Ngorongoro Crater, birding on the lodge grounds, a visit Lake Eyasi and the interesting tribes there and guided walks to Ngorongoro Forest and elephant caves.
