Everything about this recently refurbished boutique hideaway says luxury: the magnificent headland setting down to the beaches, the infinity pool and indulgent spa, the attentive service and spacious suites. Idyllic escapism.

Location

In Aturuwela, Bentota, three hours drive from the airport.

Rooms

27 suites, each with air-conditioning, lounge area, minibar, television, CD player, telephone, dressing room, open-air bathroom with bath and shower and balcony or terrace with a daybed, dining table and ocean views. Superior Suites are located on the first floor.

Deluxe Suites are slightly more spacious and on the ground floor.

Deluxe Suites with pool also have a 20 foot swimming pool.

The Grand Deluxe Suite has a 23 foot pool.

The Saman Villa is set over two floors with a 22 foot pool.

Facilities

Dine in the open-air terrace restaurant or elegant dinner restaurant before heading for a nightcap in the lounge bar. Unwind in the infinity pool with poolside bar and snack service, or head to Sahana Spa for a steambath and sauna. Other hotel facilities include a library, jewellery shop and fitness centre.

Spa and beauty

Sahana Spa: Relax in a deluxe suite with sauna, steam shower, Jacuzzi, mud bath, treatment room and dining pavilion. Therapies at the spa include:
