BEST BEACH FOR . . . BENEATH THE WATER
If your idea of a great beach includes what lies beneath the water, then the Red Sea has some of the most incredible beaches you could wish for, and Sharm’s Garden Reef Bay is amongst the best. The sand itself may not be on a par with the Caribbean or Indian Ocean, but under the water it’s second to none.
The Red Sea is one of the best diving and snorkelling locations in the World, and Sharm el Sheikh is one of the best areas of the Red Sea. Here, the waters tend to be exceptionally clear and the sea becomes deep very close to shore, which means that coral and fish can be easily found exceptionally easily - sometimes without even getting your feet wet!
At Garden Reef Bay, a floating jetty gives your first glimpses of the marine life before you’ve even got in the water - for those who aren't at home in the sea, a simple stroll along the jetty will give you a sighting of some brightly coloured fish up close. Once you’ve crossed the coral the sea bed falls away quickly, but the water is so clear you can still see the sea floor. Grab a snorkel mask and jump in – The Gardens dive site is one of the best in the area, but even for a novice snorkeller Garden Reef Bay is truly spectacular. |
