What to do in Taba & the Sinai Coast
Taba and the Sinai coast are perfect for a relaxing trip, but with plenty of sightseeing close by - Petra in Jordan, Jerusalem and Cairo can all be reached on day trips. Taba Heights offers an 18-hole championship golf course, a marina and an impressive water sports centre. The Sinai coastline is an ideal place to learn to dive, or just to snorkel, with shallow reefs are accessible straight from the beaches. Numerous secluded bays, coves and lagoons waiting to be discovered. Nuweiba is a more traditional town, while Dahab has a relaxed, laid-back feel with a number of bars and restaurants in the main area.
Where to stay in Taba & the Sinai Coast
The Taba area has an excellent range of hotels, and with many of the Taba Heights properties being newly opened, standards are high. The area has a number of well-known hotel groups, including Hyatt, Marriott, InterContinental and Hilton. Taba Heights itself has the main concentration of hotels, with the coastline to the north and south of the Resort offering a more secluded setting. Nuweiba has a more traditional feel with a few hotel options, while Dahab has a good range of hotels including simple diving hotels to more luxurious international brands.
Holiday ideas to Taba & the Sinai Coast
Spend a week or two relaxing in Taba Heights, Nuweiba or Dahab, visiting local sites such as St Catherines Monastery or Petra in nearby Jordan, diving & snorkelling or just chilling out with a good book. It's possible to visit Cairo too, but due to limited local flights, combining Taba or Nuweiba with other parts of Egypt is difficult - Dahab works better due to its proximity to Sharm airport.
Getting to Taba & the Sinai
Taba airport is served by direct flights from Gatwick and Manchester at most times of year. The airport is around 30 minutes transfer from Taba Heights, and around around 90 minutes from Nuweiba.
Holidays to Dahab are served from Sharm el Sheikh airport, about an hours transfer time, which is served by frequent flights from around the UK.
Taba airport has few domestic connections within Egypt, making Taba tricky to combine with other areas of Egypt. Sharm airport has connections from Cairo and Luxor, for Dahab and beyond holidays.
The Sinai Coast is one of Egypt’s most dramatic coastlines, with jagged mountains plunging in to the Red Sea. This is a peaceful, picturesque area stretching from Taba in the north to Sharm el Sheikh in the south. Taba Heights has established itself as the leading resort in the area, with a range of quality hotels and a superb golf course. To the south, peaceful Nuweiba is ideal for a relaxed stay while Dahab has world-class diving and a relaxed atmosphere.
