Hanoi's French-influenced elegance is in contrast to the buzz and dynamism of her southern counterpart, and sets the scene for Northern Vietnam - there’s plenty to see here, with a wealth of history and culture. Away from the City, the lofty mountains to the north are a hikers paradise, while the limestone formations of Halong Bay is perhaps the most impressive scenery in the whole of Vietnam.
