WELCOME |
Cairo
is one of the most fascinating cities anywhere, and is home
to the Pyramids and Sphinx, plus other fabulous places such
as the Egyptian Museum, home to the treasures of Tutankhamen.
The City is a manic mix of sights and sounds that leaves most
visitors wanting more! |
|
WHAT
TO DO |
There
are must-see locations in Cairo that no visitor can leave without
having visited - the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza lead the way,
closely followed by the Egyptian Antiquities Museum in the city
centre. For an authentically Egyptian experience, head to the
bazaar at Khan El Khalili (a guide is recommended) or take a
Felucca ride on the Nile to see the City from the water. |
WHERE
TO STAY |
Location
is important in Cairo - choose a city centre hotel for exploring
this magical city, or a Giza hotel for easy access to the Pyramids
and Sphinx. Getting around can be quite slow! There are some
excellent hotel options available. |
HOLIDAY
IDEAS |
Cairo
can be visited either as a short break, spending three of four
nights exploring the city, or as a twin centre holiday spending
a few days in Cairo before moving on to other areas of Egypt.
Many visitors to the shores of the Red Sea take the time to
visit Cairo, and it's more enjoyable to include it in your holiday
itinerary than buying an excursion when you get to your hotel! It's
possible to combine the Egyptian Capital with various other
parts of the Country, including Luxor, Aswan or a Nile cruise. |
GETTING
THERE |
Flights
to Cairo operate every day from London Heathrow. Onward connections
to other areas of Egypt, including Sharm el Sheikh, Hurghada,
Luxor and Aswan, also operate daily. |
