WELCOME |
Krabi
and the surrounding coast is one of Thailand's most scenically
spectacular regions, where limestone cliffs soar from the
sea in magnificent formations, with white sand beaches at
their feet. The islands of Koh Phi Phi, Koh Yao and Koh Lanta
are close to Krabi and both offer an unspoilt base for a holiday.
Phi Phi receives day trippers. About an hour north of Phuket,
the unspoilt resort of Khao Lak offers a
relaxed atmosphere and good access to the Similan Islands.
This area was badly hit by the Boxing Day Tsunami, but things
are getting back to normal and visitors are warmly welcomed
once again. |

WHAT
TO DO |
Spend
lazy days on the beach or by the pool, and relaxed evenings
trying the local cuisine and enjoying a cold beer. For the more
active, there's a host of water sports and boat trips available,
exploring the beautiful coastline where the film 'The Beach'
was made. |

WHERE
TO STAY |
Krabi's
main beach area, Ao Nang, has a good range of hotels and some
good bars and restaurants. Hotels in the surrounding area are
rarely more than 20 minutes from Ao Nang, and offer a more peaceful
atmosphere. Elsewhere, resorts such as Koh Lanta, Trang and
Phi Phi have more limited hotel options, although all offer
good standards. |

Spend
your holidays enjoying the South's beautiful white sand beaches,
or combine them with elsewhere. Krabi's relaxed atmosphere makes
a great contrast to the bustle of Bangkok, or have a look at

GETTING
THERE |
There
are regular flights every day from Bangkok to Krabi, for holidays
to Krabi, Phi Phi Koh Yao Noi and Koh Lanta. Trang is also reached
by flight from Bangkok, with one or two flights per day. Flights
to Bangkok are available from various UK airports - holidays
shown here are based on direct flights from Heathrow, for the
most straightforward journey. Flights from Gatwick and Manchester
are available, often at a lower price, while departures from
other UK airports are also available. |
