Holidays to Chiang
Mai and Northern Thailand |
|
|
|
WELCOME TO
CHIANG MAI
|
Northern
Thailand is a complete contrast to the bustle of Bangkok,
and the areas main town, Chiang Mai, is an excellent starting
point. Chiang Mai is Thailand's second city, and is far smaller than the capital,
retaining a more traditional atmosphere, despite recent
growth. Elsewhere, the towns of Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son,
plus the area known as the Golden Triangle, are all worth
exploring. Chiang Mai is around an hour's flight from Bangkok. |

WHAT
TO DO
IN CHIANG MAI
|
Chiang
Mai offers a good insight in to Thailand's fascinating culture,
with dozens of accessible temples in the city, craft villages
demonstrating local trades close by, and a wide range of foods
on offer. Try a cookery course if you have time! Evenings are
a great opportunity to buy a few local crafts in the excellent
night market, or try traditional food at a Kantoke evening of
traditional Northern cuisine. |
WHERE
TO STAY |
Chiang
Mai is a relatively small city in comparison to Bangkok, so
location isn't as important. Many of the City's hotels are located
close to the walls of the Old City, with those to the east -
closer to the river - also offering easy access to the renowned
night market. Other towns in the area have more limited options
in terms of hotels. |
HOLIDAY
IDEAS |
A
few days in Chiang Mai will give you enough time to visit the
highlights of the city - or allow longer if you want to explore
the countryside around. It's easy to combine Chiang Mai with
other parts of Thailand, including Bangkok and the beaches of
Thailand. Our holidays to Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand are
very flexible so just let us know what you have in mind! |
GETTING TO
