Top 5 . . . Food Experiences |
This week we're having a look at our Top 5 Food recommendations!
It's our favourite subject at Escape Worldwide, and our mouths have been literally watering at the thought of some of the dishes we've tried on our travels - although some of the local delicacies, such as salted locusts in Cambodia or deep-fried chicken knees in Thailand, are a little further down our list! |

No.1 |
SATAY Penang, Malaysia |
After long and exhaustive research, we can officially name Penang's Esplanade Food Centre as serving the best Satay in the World...Ever! Here at Escape Worldwide we take our food research very seriously, and all of us have taken part extensively in this very important subject. The Esplanade's satay is grilled over hot coals, getting the best flavour possible. |

CROCODILE Mombasa, Kenya |
Enjoy the thrill of safari - then eat some of the animals you've just seen in their natural setting! The renowned Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi serves all sorts of meats including giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, crocodile and Hartebeest, while many of the Mombasa beach hotels also serve game meats for special evening meals. |

LAMB & DATE STEW Muscat, Oman |
The most delicious food is often the simplest, served in a straightforward manner, and this was certainly the case for Darren when he visited the Omani capital, Muscat. Despite staying in one of the Middle East's most luxurious resorts, his top meal of the trip was a traditional affair of lamb and date stew with rice in a local restaurant in downtown Mutrah. |

No.4 |

LOCUSTS Phnom Penh, Cambodia |
Hardly something you're likely to serve at your next dinner party, but Karen had the rather dubious pleasure of trying locusts in the Cambodian capital. Served from streetside stalls in bags (much like you'd grab a packet of crisps), she did resist temptation on the other local delicacy served in a similar manner - tarantula legs! |

No.5 |
FALAFEL Sharm, Red Sea |
Mark enjoyed a delicious traditional meal at the Abou El Sid Egyptian restaurant, located in the heart of Naama Bay, Sharm el Sheikh. A fan of just about all Middle Eastern food (please don't get him started on Lebanese food!), the falafel was a particular favourite - a top recommendation if you're looking for a genuinely Egyptian meal in Sharm. |
