Start with 2 nights at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, one of Colombo's most famous properties, before your driver collects you and takes you to Kandy, for 3 nights. Sightseeing possibilities include the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage and the Temple of the Tooth. Then continue to the beach where your driver will leave you.

Your driver will meet you at the airport and take you straight to Kandy for two nights, perhaps travelling via Pinnawela, before continuing north to Habarana. Sightseeing here may include Sigiriya Rock Fortress, the Cave Temple of Dambulla and the ancient city of Polonnaruwa. Then head to the beach for some well-earned relaxation.

The Sri Lankan capital is well worth a day or two to explore - there's no need to have your car & driver here, so explore Galle Face Green, the bazaars of Pettah and the myriad of temples on foot (or hop in a cab when you need to!

Sri Lanka's cultural heartland, Kandy is an easy-going town with plenty of interest. The Temple of the Tooth is one of Sri Lanka's most important religious sites, but be sure to visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage on the way from Colombo.
