Setting the pace for modern cities the world over, Dubai is as exciting as it gets. Forward-thinking and ultra-modern, Dubai builds technology-breaking buildings because it can, and its ever-changing skyline shouts to the rest of the world that this is the place to be. Add in gorgeous beaches and unbroken sunshine, and Dubai is a perfect city destination.
Dubai must be unique in the world - normally, if there's a mention of building works in a holiday resort then everyone is keen to avoid it - in Dubai, the construction is almost an attraction, and anyone with even a slight interest in architecture will spend most of their visit amazed by the audacity of the projects underway. The new Burj Dubai is the tallest building in the world, while off-shore, whole new coastlines are being created. Marinas, ski slopes, monorails, theme parks, shopping malls - they're all on the drawing board or on the ground to create the most exciting city of the future.
While Dubai's goal seems to be to out-do other cities, hotels in Dubai seem to be aiming to out-do each other. New hotels have more facilities, better standards, a more spectacular setting or higher levels of service than the last hotel that opened. The latest kid on the block is the spectacular Atlantis The Palm, complete with 1500 rooms, 17 restaurants and bars, and a water park that's home to 65,000 marine creatures.
In Dubai only the sky is the limit - and they're nearly there! |
